POETRY RECITAL

This multilingual poem writing competition provides a creative platform for participants to express their thoughts, emotions, and ideas in three different languages, fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity and unity. By embracing poetry from various traditions, the competition helps preserve valuable literary heritage while encouraging cross-cultural dialogue. It also enhances the cultural depth of poetry, allowing writers and readers alike to experience the richness, beauty, and unique perspectives embedded within each language.

FIRST ROUND (30/10/2025) - RECORDING

Special Competition Requirements

  • The poem to be recited must be written in English and must adhere to the theme determined by the organisers.

  • The poem must be respectful and must not contain any obscene elements, provocation, or content that touches on religious or racial sensitivities.

  • Submitted poems will remain in the custody of the organising committee for the purposes of compilation and publication; however, copyright will remain with the author. The author will be notified should their poem be published.

POEM THEME: Identity and Culture

The poem must be original and self-written. The organizer has the right to reject entries that do not meet requirements or are suspected of plagiarism, without prior notice.

Time Limit:

  • Each participant will be given between 3 to 7 minutes.

  • Any performance exceeding 7 minutes will result in a deduction of marks.

Music and Performance:

  • Participants may use background music (instrumental) and may play musical instruments.

  • Performances must be conducted live. Lip-syncing or pre-recorded vocals are strictly prohibited.

Poem Text Format:

  • Soft copy in PDF/Word format.

  • Font: Arial, size 11, spacing 1.5.

  • Between 3 to 5 stanzas, maximum 20 lines.

  • File name: (INSTITUTION NAME_ID NUMBER_POEM TITLE).

 

Video Recording Format:

  • Each recording must be completed in a single take, without editing.

  • Camera must remain stable (tripod/fixed device).

  • Format: MP4, 1280 x 720 (HD).

  • Ratio: 16:9 (landscape).

  • Shot: medium (waist-up).

  • Face must be clearly visible, with adequate lighting.

  • Audio must be clear and free from background noise.

  • The use of a teleprompter is not permitted.

  • File name: (INSTITUTION NAME_ID NUMBER_POEM TITLE).

Video Submission Format:

  • Files must include both the “Poem Text” and “Video Recording”.

  • Submission is via Google Form (Google Drive link) provided by the organisers.

  • Ensure the link is accessible (not private/empty file). Otherwise, the submission will be deemed invalid.

  • Participants without access to Google must inform the organisers for an alternative submission method.

  • Only the final version submitted by 23:59 (GMT+8, Malaysia Time) on 30 October will be accepted. Any re-uploads after the closing date will not be considered or evaluated by the jury. (Participants are advised to convert this to their local time zone to determine the exact deadline in their country.)

Judging

  • The judges’ decision is final and binding.

FINAL ROUND (17/12/2025) – PHYSICAL

Special Competition Requirements

  • Please refer to the rules for the FIRST ROUND.

  • Participants must arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time and be ready when their names are called. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from the competition.

 

The same poem from the First Round will be used.

  • Each participant will be given between 3 to 10 minutes.

  • Any performance exceeding 10 minutes will result in a deduction of marks.

  • Performances must be conducted live. Lip-syncing or pre-recorded vocals are strictly prohibited.

Judging

  • The judges’ decision is final and binding.
