VOICE OF LEGACY

This multilingual singing competition serves as a vibrant platform for showcasing vocal talent in four different languages, fostering cultural diversity and mutual respect among communities. By featuring songs from various traditions and backgrounds, it not only entertains but also plays a vital role in preserving linguistic heritage and promoting cross-cultural understanding. Through the celebration of music, the competition enriches the cultural value of singing and inspires a deeper appreciation for the beauty of global traditions.

FIRST ROUND (30/10/2025) - RECORDING

Special Competition Requirements

  • Each participant is only permitted to perform a song of their choice in the English language.

  • The song performed must be modern or contemporary in nature, and should not consist entirely of a traditional piece. Songs incorporating fusion elements are also permitted.

  • The chosen song must be an existing, commercially released English-language song by a recognised recording artist.

  • Song lyrics must be appropriate, free from vulgarity, provocative elements, or content that touches upon religious or racial sensitivities.

Duration

  • The allocated performance time is 4 to 6 minutes per song.

  • Participants who exceed 6 minutes will have marks deducted at the discretion of the judges.

Performance Submission

  • Each participant is required to submit two videos:

    1. Video 1: A performance without musical accompaniment (a cappella) – 5 to 6 minutes

    2. Video 2: A performance with instrumental accompaniment (minus one track) – 5 to 6 minutes
      *Total recording length: 10 to 12 minutes only.

    3. ​Recorded Songs “video 1” and “video 2” may either be the same song or two different songs.

Video Recording Format:

  • Each recording must be completed in a single take, without editing and/or autotune.

  • Camera must remain stable (tripod/fixed device).

  • Format: MP4, 1280 x 720 (HD).

  • Ratio: 16:9 (landscape).

  • Shot: full or medium (waist-up).

  • Face must be clearly visible, with adequate lighting.

  • Audio must be clear and free from background noise.

Video Submission Format:

  • File Name: (INSTITUTION NAME_ID NUMBER_SONG TITLE).

  • Recordings of “video 1” and “video 2” may be combined or submitted separately.

  • Submission is via Google Form (Google Drive link) provided by the organisers.

  • Ensure the link is accessible (not private/empty file). Otherwise, the submission will be deemed invalid.

  • Participants without access to Google must inform the organisers for an alternative submission method.

  • Only the final version submitted by 23:59 (GMT+8, Malaysia Time) on 30 October will be accepted. Any re-uploads after the closing date will not be considered or evaluated by the jury. (Participants are advised to convert this to their local time zone to determine the exact deadline in their country.)

Judging

  • The judges’ decision is final and binding.

FINAL ROUND (17/12/2025) - PHYSICAL

Special Competition Requirements

  • Please refer to the rules for the FIRST ROUND.

  • Participants must arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time and be ready when their names are called. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from the competition.

Duration:

  • The allocated performance time is 4 to 6 minutes per participant.

  • Participants who exceed 6 minutes will have marks deducted at the discretion of the judges.

 

Music and Performance: 

  • Each participant shall perform one song only.

  • Participants may choose to perform the same song used in the FIRST ROUND or a different song.

  • Only minus one backing tracks are permitted. Performances accompanied by live music, acoustic instruments, or purely a cappella singing are not allowed.

  • Participants are permitted to change the key of the song to suit their vocal range.

  • The performance must be delivered live. Any form of lip-syncing or pre-recorded vocals is strictly prohibited.

  • The selected song must be submitted to the organising committee no later than one day before the competition.

Judging

  • The judges’ decision is final and binding.

Marking Criteria

Vocal & Voice Control – 40%

  • Pitch accuracy, vocal strength, control, and clarity of pronunciation.

 

Expression & Performance – 30%

  • Motion, facial expression, performance style

 

Creativity & Originality – 20%

  • Singing style and unique elements in the performance.

 

Appearance & Performance Ethics – 10%

  • Outfit and dedication in delivering the performance
